HubSpot CRM and Pipedrive are both popular CRMs for small and mid-size teams, but they start from different places. HubSpot CRM is a free CRM at the base of a larger marketing, sales and service platform. Pipedrive is a sales CRM built around a visual deal pipeline. Choose HubSpot if you want to start free and connect marketing and sales on the same records. Choose Pipedrive if your team is mainly salespeople who run their week from a pipeline.

What is the main difference between HubSpot CRM and Pipedrive?

HubSpot CRM, which HubSpot now calls the Smart CRM, stores contacts, companies, deals and activity, and every paid HubSpot tool runs on the same database. The free tools go beyond sales: HubSpot lists a shared inbox, live chat, forms, landing pages, ticketing, payment links and basic email marketing, plus Breeze Assistant, its AI assistant.

Pipedrive is sales-first. Each deal sits in a stage, and the CRM pushes reps toward the next activity that moves it forward, which Pipedrive calls activity-based selling. Its Nova meeting intelligence prepares a brief before a call, records and transcribes it, and drafts a recap and CRM updates for you to approve. Pipedrive says Nova is included on every plan.

How do HubSpot CRM and Pipedrive compare on price?

HubSpot prices were checked on 1 November 2026 and are in US dollars before tax. Pipedrive prices were checked on 31 October 2026, shown in euros to a visitor in the Netherlands and excluding VAT.

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthly
HubSpot Free$0 (2 users, 1,000 contacts)$0
HubSpot Starter$7 per seat, new-customer offer (normally $20)$10 per seat, new-customer offer (normally $20)
Pipedrive Lite€14 per seat€24 per seat
Pipedrive Growth€39 per seat€49 per seat
Pipedrive Premium€59 per seat€79 per seat
Pipedrive Ultimate€79 per seat€99 per seat

HubSpot wins at the start: a free plan with no time limit and, for now, a low Starter price for new customers. The $7 and $10 offers are for a limited time, and Starter's normal price is $20 per seat per month. HubSpot's Professional and Enterprise tiers are priced per hub on separate pricing pages, and G2 reviewers say useful automation, forecasting and custom reporting sit in those tiers, so the bill can grow quickly as you add seats and features.

Pipedrive has no free plan, and email and follow-up automation start on Growth. Several tools cost extra as add-ons: LeadBooster for lead capture and Smart Docs from €32.50, Projects from €16, Campaigns from €13.33 and Web Visitors from €41.

Which is easier to set up?

Both are praised on G2 for ease of use and an intuitive interface. The differences show up later. HubSpot reviewers mention a learning curve once you go beyond the basics, and some mention duplicate contacts and the need for consistent data entry to keep reports accurate. Pipedrive reviewers mention a learning curve for new users and integration issues, such as missing meeting details in Google Calendar events.

Pipedrive does less, so there is less to configure: pipelines with your own stages, activities and goals. HubSpot connects to Gmail, Google Workspace and many versions of Outlook. Its free tools cover more than sales, so there is more to set up if you use them all.

Which has the better free plan?

HubSpot's, because Pipedrive does not have one. HubSpot's free CRM has no expiration date and needs no credit card, but it is limited to 2 users and 1,000 contacts, plus 1,000 records across other standard object types. A growing team will reach those limits fairly soon.

Pipedrive offers a 14-day free trial on every plan, with no credit card. HubSpot's CRM pricing page does not mention a trial of Starter.

Which works better for marketing teams?

HubSpot, clearly. Forms, landing pages, live chat and basic email marketing are part of the free tools, and the paid marketing tools run on the same contact records, so marketing and sales see the same history. Teams that already use HubSpot for marketing get the most out of its CRM.

Pipedrive's marketing features are add-ons: Campaigns for email marketing, LeadBooster for lead capture and Web Visitors to see which companies visit your site. They can cover simple needs, but Pipedrive positions itself as a sales tool.

Which works better for sales teams?

Pipedrive is built for this job. You design pipelines with your own stages, track goals and activities per rep, and use customisable reports and forecasting. Nova handles call preparation and notes on every plan, and the AI sales assistant recommends which deals to focus on, writes and summarises emails, and builds reports from a typed request. More than 500 integrations connect it to tools such as Google, QuickBooks and Slack.

HubSpot covers the sales basics well. Deals sit in a pipeline view with forecasts based on deal likelihood, email open tracking and shared templates are included, and the meeting scheduler syncs with your calendar. G2 reviewers value having contacts, deals, emails and activity in one place. What do users say about HubSpot CRM and Pipedrive?

On G2, HubSpot's CRM is reviewed under HubSpot Sales Hub, rated 4.4 out of 5. Pipedrive is rated 4.3. Both are praised for ease of use. HubSpot's most common complaints are limited features on lower plans and cost as you scale. Pipedrive's are limited automation and customisation, a learning curve and the cost of add-ons. These ratings were checked on 31 October 2026.

The bottom line

Choose HubSpot CRM if you want a free CRM now, need marketing tools on the same records, and may grow into HubSpot's paid hubs. Watch the free plan's 2-user limit and the cost of higher tiers. Choose Pipedrive if your team is mostly salespeople who live in the pipeline and want AI meeting notes included, and you are happy to pay from day one.
