ClickUp is a work management app that puts tasks, docs, chat, whiteboards and dashboards in one place, with AI built in. It aims to replace several separate tools. ClickUp now calls itself "one workspace built to think and work", and its AI, ClickUp Brain, can answer questions about your work and run agents.

Who is ClickUp for?

ClickUp suits teams that want one tool for projects, documentation and team communication, and that are willing to spend time setting it up. Marketing teams use it for campaign plans and content calendars, agencies for client work, and product teams for sprints. Very small teams that only need a simple to-do board may find it more than they need.

What are ClickUp's main features?

Tasks and views

Work is organised in Spaces, Folders and Lists. Tasks can have subtasks, assignees, due dates, priorities and custom fields. You can see the same tasks as a list, board, calendar or Gantt chart. Paid plans remove the limits on Gantt charts, forms and storage.

Docs, chat and whiteboards

Docs sit next to the tasks they describe. You can nest pages, comment, turn comments into tasks and mark a doc as a wiki. ClickUp Chat adds channels and direct messages, and you can create a task straight from a message. Whiteboards cover brainstorming and planning sessions.

Dashboards and reporting

Dashboards pull data from across the workspace into cards for workload, sprints, time tracking and goals. Advanced dashboards, resource management and timesheets come with the Business plan.

ClickUp Brain and automations

ClickUp Brain searches tasks, docs and chat to answer questions, writes and summarises content, and powers AI agents. Each plan includes a monthly amount of AI credits, and you can buy more. Automations handle routine steps, with a monthly cap that rises with each plan, from 1,000 on Core to 10,000 on Business.

What do users say about ClickUp?

ClickUp is rated 4.6 out of 5 on G2 from more than 15,000 reviews at the time of checking. G2's review summary says users most often praise its ease of use once set up, its flexible task management, the large number of features and how well it keeps teams and projects organised.

The most common complaints on G2 are missing basics such as nested subfolders, a learning curve because of the sheer number of features, a setup that feels complex and not very intuitive at first, and slow loading when lists hold many tasks and fields.
