Loom is a tool for recording quick videos of your screen, your camera or both, and sharing them with a link. Teams use it to explain work without a meeting. Atlassian bought Loom in 2023, and it is still sold as its own product with a free plan and paid plans from $18 per user per month.

Who is Loom for?

Loom suits teams that explain things often: sales reps sending video follow-ups, support teams showing customers how to fix a problem, and remote teams sharing updates across time zones. Loom names sales, engineering, customer support and design as its main use cases. If you need polished marketing videos with heavy editing, a video editor or video hosting platform fits better.

What are Loom's main features?

Recording and sharing

You record from the Chrome extension, the desktop app or the mobile app. When you stop, the video is ready to share or embed. Viewers can comment, react with emoji and respond to tasks or calls to action in the video. Every plan includes transcripts and captions in more than 50 languages.

Editing

The Business plan adds trimming and stitching of clips, custom thumbnails, embedded links and the option to remove Loom branding. Business + AI adds advanced editing, such as editing by transcript and removing filler words and silences automatically.

Loom AI and meetings

On Business + AI, Loom AI writes titles, summaries and chapters, suggests tasks and adds calls to action. Loom now also records meetings, with no length limit even on the free plan, and the AI plan sends automatic meeting notes and recap emails.

Integrations

Loom works with Google Workspace, Slack, Figma and Jira. The pricing page lists the Salesforce integration as part of the Enterprise plan.

What do users say about Loom?

Loom is rated 4.7 out of 5 on G2 from more than 2,400 reviews at the time of checking. G2's review summary says users most often praise how easy it is to record and share, and that video saves time on meetings and long emails.

The most common complaints on G2 are recording problems, such as capturing the wrong screen, downloads being limited to paid plans, slow loading or lag when the internet connection drops, and a free plan that feels restrictive because of short recordings and limited editing.

When should you choose an alternative?

  • You want video messages built for prospecting, with viewer tracking. Look at Vidyard.
