The best team collaboration tools for sales and marketing teams

Slack is the best collaboration tool for most sales and marketing teams, because channels and Slack Connect keep the team, clients and partners in one conversation. Add Notion for shared docs and monday.com or ClickUp to track shared work.

Editor's note, November 1, 2026: New list: 10 collaboration tools for go-to-market teams, grouped by job (chat, docs, work tracking, whiteboards and video), with prices checked on 31 October 2026.

How we choose: we research each tool on its own site, check prices at the source and read what users say in public reviews. Our method

Slack is the best collaboration tool for most sales and marketing teams. Channels keep daily conversation organised by team, account or campaign, and Slack Connect brings clients, agencies and partners into the same shared channels. Most teams pair it with Notion for playbooks and briefs, and with monday.com or ClickUp to track shared work.

If your company already runs on Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams covers chat and meetings and is usually the sensible default. If the team plans visually, add Miro, and if people work across time zones, Loom replaces many short meetings with recorded walkthroughs.

Collaboration tools do different jobs, so choose one per job rather than one for everything: a place to talk, a place to write things down, a place to track who does what, and a way to meet. Before adding a tool, check whether one you already pay for covers the job. Prices below were checked on 31 October 2026. For more tools, browse our productivity category.

How we chose

We ranked each tool on the five points of our published method, in this order. First, fit for sales and marketing teams: how well it helps a go-to-market team share information, plan together and work with clients and partners. Second, the collaboration features that matter for that job, such as channels, shared documents, boards and dashboards, whiteboards and video, taken from each vendor's own documentation. Third, price and how clearly it is stated, including free plans, trials and seat minimums. Fourth, what users report in public reviews on G2. Fifth, whether the product is actively developed.

Every tool was researched on its own website, pricing page and documentation, and in public reviews on G2. Tools that most companies choose as part of an office suite, such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams, are ranked on what they add for collaboration.

November 1, 2026

The natural choice when the company runs on Microsoft 365. Chat, meetings and files sit next to Outlook and the Office apps, but it is usually chosen with the suite rather than on its own.

Why it's on the list

Microsoft Teams combines chat, channels, meetings and file sharing, and each team stores its files in its own SharePoint site. Shared channels let you work with people at other organisations, as long as they sign in with Microsoft work or school accounts. G2 rates Zoom Workplace 4.5 out of 5, with ease of use and a stable connection the most common praise. It ranks last because most teams already get meetings with Google Workspace or Microsoft Teams.

Pros

  • Stable video calls, per G2 reviewers
  • AI meeting summaries, 3 a month on the free plan
  • Chat, whiteboard and docs in Zoom Workplace
  • Separate webinar and sales-call analysis products

Cons

  • Free meetings stop at 40 minutes
  • Overlaps with meetings in Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams

Also considered

  • Basecamp: Projects and team communication in one place at a flat monthly price, with clients invited in. G2 reviewers find it light on reporting for complex work.
  • Missive: A shared inbox for addresses such as sales@, with internal comments on emails. It covers one job rather than team collaboration as a whole.
  • Trello: The simplest shared boards, but free workspaces are capped at 10 collaborators, and the tools above cover more jobs.

Frequently asked questions

What are team collaboration tools?

They are apps that help people work on the same things together. Most fall into five jobs, which are chat, shared documents, work tracking, whiteboards and video. Some tools, such as ClickUp, try to cover several jobs in one app.

Which collaboration tools does a sales and marketing team need?

Most teams need one tool per job. That means a chat tool such as Slack or Microsoft Teams, a home for documents such as Notion or Google Workspace, and a shared place to track work such as monday.com, ClickUp or Asana. Add a whiteboard or async video only if the team plans visually or works across time zones.

What is the best free collaboration tool?

It depends on the job. ClickUp's Free Forever plan has unlimited members, Slack's free plan keeps 90 days of messages, Loom's free plan covers up to 50 members, Miro's keeps 3 editable boards, and Zoom's free meetings run for up to 40 minutes.

Should we use Slack or Microsoft Teams?

Pick Microsoft Teams if the company already runs on Microsoft 365, because it comes with the suite and stores files in SharePoint. Pick Slack if you work closely with clients and partners, because Slack Connect shares channels with people at other companies, and its app directory lists more than 2,600 integrations.

Can one tool replace Slack, Notion and a project tool?

ClickUp comes closest, with chat, docs and tasks in one app. The trade-off is setup time, which is the most common complaint in ClickUp's G2 reviews. Teams that already like their chat and docs tools usually get more from adding a work tracker than from switching everything.

Missing a tool?

Software companies can submit their tool for review. Whether it's added is an editorial decision. Submit a tool
