Editor's note, November 1, 2026: New list: 10 project tools compared on campaign planning, approvals, price and public reviews, with prices checked on 31 October 2026.
How we choose: we research each tool on its own site, check prices at the source and read what users say in public reviews. Our method
Asana is the best project management software for most marketing teams. It turns campaign requests into tasks with forms, plans them on timelines, routes creative work through approvals and proofing on its Advanced plan, and rolls campaigns up into portfolios for leadership. monday.com is the most visual choice and has the highest G2 rating here, and ClickUp gives the most features for the money, with a free plan for unlimited members.
Some teams should start further down. Wrike is the strongest for creative review, Notion suits content-led teams that write briefs and keep a wiki, and Teamwork.com is built for agencies that bill clients for their time.
Marketing work has a few needs that general project tools do not always cover: a way to take in requests, a calendar or timeline for launch dates, approvals for creative work, and reports that show leadership where each campaign stands. Check which plan includes each of these, because several tools keep timelines, approvals or proofing on their higher tiers. Prices below were checked on 31 October 2026. For a closer look at one option, read our monday.com project management review.

How we chose
We ranked each tool on the five points of our published method, in this order. First, fit for marketing work: campaigns, content and creative requests rather than software sprints. Second, the features marketing teams use most, such as request forms, calendar and timeline views, approvals and proofing, dashboards and guest access, taken from each vendor's own documentation. Third, price and how clearly it is stated, including free plans, trials, seat minimums and which plan unlocks the features above. Fourth, what users report in public reviews on G2. Fifth, whether the product is actively developed.
Every tool was researched on its own website, pricing page and help centre, and in public reviews on G2. Tools built mainly for one job, such as social scheduling or client billing, rank below general project tools unless that job is the reader's main need.
